PhD student Alaa Eddin Alchalabi gave a keynote and an interview, on combining AI with serious games and brain-computer interfaces to detect and treat ADHD in children, at the IEEE Global Conference on Signal and Information Processing, and at Techopia Live, respectively.

Congratulations to PhD student Alaa Eddin Alchalabi for winning 1st place in the Faculty of Engineering's Graduate poster competition, in the "Technology for digital transformation of society" category, with his work “Q Network: Decentralized Multi-Deep Reinforcement Learning Agents on a Blockchain”. Excellent job, Alaa.


Former DISCOVER Lab Ph.D. student Dr. Parisa Pouladzadeh becomes Professor at Fleming College, Canada. We wish all the best to Parisa in her career!


Lab Director Prof. Shirmohammadi has received an NSERC Engage grant to work with Pleora Technologies and in collaboration with Prof. Robert Laganiere on a research project to study the feasibility of using machine learning to create panoramic videos from uncalibrated cameras that are dynamically added to a multi-camera systems.


Lab Director Prof. Shirmohammadi has received a $240,000 MITACS Cluster grant to collaborate with Ciena Corp on a research project to use machine learning for identifying poor-quality video experiences in OTT systems and determine the root cause of significant video delivery problems.

DISCOVER Lab professors Shirmohammadi and Al Osman have received a $546,800 NSERC Strategic grant titled "HiPer Clouding: High Performance Cloud Gaming" to work with Ubique Networks to study and develop new Software Defined Networking (SDN) systems specifically for Cloud Gaming applications, making possible the delivery of satisfactory QoE, real-time and bandwidth-intensive cloud games over future communication networks.
